Ovie Ejaria breaks Sunderland record after just one appearance - Quiz time!

Liverpool loanee Ovie Ejaria became the first player in Sunderland history to appear in the number 53 shirt, breaking the record for our highest shirt number since a certain number 52. What better time to whip out this cracker of a quiz - can you name the player to have made the most Sunderland appearances in each shirt number? [More]

Sunderland's Player of the Season so far - err yes we have made this a thing...

In a season of defensive calamities and general inability to play football you'd be forgiven for expecting our best player (who still plays for the club) this season to be someone further up the field. Statistically however, the two vying for the prestigious CV note 'I was the least worst player in the worst Sunderland team of all time" are both defenders. [More]

On the Grill: Micky Horswill chats with Ethan & picks his Sunderland 11

Recently I spoke to 1973 FA Cup winner Micky Horswill about his career at Sunderland. Mick, from Annfield Plain, was a boyhood Sunderland fan and “lived every Sunderland fan’s dream” playing over 70 games for the Wearsiders and scoring three goals. Still only a young lad in the cup winning team he broke onto the scene in 1971 under Alan Brown before leaving against his will in 1974 under Bob Stokoe. [More]

QUIZ! No more transfers - but can you name some goalscorers - a lot harder than it sounds!

The transfer window is over, and the quality is oozing out of Wearside once more. Just like it was during 2017, where we had more players find the back of the net than we can count on our hands. 18 players managed to score for Sunderland during 2017 - can you name them all? It's harder than it sounds... [More]

On the Grill: "I just wanted to produce for the fans" Ethan meets Lee Howey!

Recently, I spoke to former Sunderland centre half Lee Howey. Lee played over 75 times for Sunderland between 1993 and 1997, scoring 8 league goals. He was signed by Terry Butcher but played most games under Peter Reid. Most of his appearances under Butcher were off the bench before a good run of games under Reid. Born a Sunderland fan, Howey lived every fan’s dream to pull on the red and white shirt. [More]
